my Bahama scarf

you saw the colors and now the beginning of the weaving:

A friend in my class at the Southwest School of Art gave me the advice to work in larger blocks to get the effect of the colors in the pattern.
Again it is Hucklace, more open this time. I am working with dyed rayon and dyed cotton weft.
At first I was very disappointed with my weft color but in using it, it fits perfect.
I wonder how it will shrink if I wash it. I like the change I made to the borders in plain weave.
Something amazing happened to me while I am weaving it:
• I can see the blue/green water -  feel the sun on my skin but also watch the earthy color which keeps me grounded or more later during the day when we would watch the sunset.......
This weaving is very meditative - not just weaving a scarf - trying not to make a mistake in the pattern but being there  -  remembering the beauty of the Bahamas  -  how happy I was being there - in a way overwhelmed with the colors and the beauty of the landscape all around me. Never had I seen that color of water.
I need to dig in my photos to find pictures which go with my scarf.

colors for next project

at first I thought the colors wouldn't work with each other. But then who would have thought.....
My Bahamas blue is going to be the warp and the rust the weft.

continue Hucklace

I wove 35 inches last night - how much fun, making up different designs.
I decided this scarf is my test. Whatever I like best, I will weave my next scarf with.
Very much enjoy hucklace.

patience is something you learn when you warp your loom.....

Last night, I thought I could finally weave again.......after finishing putting on a warp for an hucklace scarf.....but when I checked it, it took me 3 hrs to identify my mistakes and fix them.
Let me tell you, I am a very good heddle maker.
Hopefully, Thursday when I go back, I get to finish securing the warp and start weaving.........
I can always hope and in the end, does it really matter that I start weaving?
Isn't it a better practice to learn from my mistakes and figured out how to correct them?

Dyed warp

Project accomplished:
Had to dye a warp with 3-4 colors and give it a name. How about Bahamas?

as I was finishing the last piece..........

I found this weaving - I had done in '96 and put aside -  being afraid to sew and wash it.
But now I decided was the time to finish it.
I loved the feel of it after washing and found some yarn to knit the front part.
I'll just integrate this piece in the back of the top I am producing. Stay tuned, it might not take me another 15 yrs...... to actually finish it.

finished piece

Okay, I finished it , washed it and are quite please with the outcome, but I doubt it is enough fabric for a top, maybe if I find the perfect yarn to supplement thru knitting, crocheting?
Right now it is in a resting place.
